MohammadReza Farzad
Mohammadreza Farzad, born in 1978, graduated with a master's degree in theater from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Tehran University.
As a documentary filmmaker, his films have been screened in national and international festivals and have won various awards. Among his films "Into Thin Air", "Blames and Flames" and "Subtotals" were first screened at the Berlin Film Festival in 2011, 2012 and 2022 and have been shown in dozens of film festivals so far.
Farzad was a doctoral student in "Film Factory" under the management of Hungarian auteur director Belatar. He has also participated as a member of the jury in several international film festivals, such as Copenhagen Documentary Festivals, Yihlava, Pilsen, Dakobaku, and the Prague Iranian Film Festival. His latest work, the short documentary "Hollow" (from the six-episode series of the project "Ja") was made with the artistic advice of the great Wim Wenders and was shown for the first time at the Copenhagen Documentary Festival. He has cooperated with various publications such as Arqanoon, Farabi, Zibashenakht, Saan, Nadastan, Karnameh, Golestane, etc., and also he has published books such as "You were busy dying", "Your Absence", "There is nothing in the drawer", "Trotsky's Garden", "Shah is Listening" and "The Perfume of Death".
Farzad is currently the secretary of the theater section of the monthly "Shabke Aftab" and the book series of "Babylon Tower" of Cheshme Publishing House.
